If you want more personal comfort in your furniture, it may be time to get something new.  You may need furniture that is wider or sturdier.  You may need a shallower seat or even more support in the cushions.  Firmer cushions make it easier to get up and down.

When you get new electronics, you may need new gaming chairs and a new television console to support the new television.  This is always a good idea because you don't want something old and wobbly.

When you have a fire or flood in your home it is time to buy new furniture.  You should try to buy high quality furniture because it will last longer and be a better value.

Another good time to replace outdated and uncomfortable furniture is when you get a pay raise or move to a new home.

Here are some average times to replace your furniture

8 to 10 years is average for a mattress whether it is spring mattress. made of memory foam or even a water bed.

Carpet varies a lot on when it needs to be replaced.  Unexpensive carpet can last from1 to 5 years, Medium grade carpet can last 5 to 15 years, and good quality, more expensive carpets can last 15 to 25 years.

Sofas can last 7 to 15 years depending how much use it gets and how much good care it gets (how careful you are with it).  If your sofa isn't comfortable you may want to buy a new quality sofa sooner, instead of later.

You should definitely buy new furniture when your sofa looks like it needs a redo, is not comfortable, has holes or frayed fabric and needs to be thrown out or given away.
