Media Room for the Sports Fan

The ultimate media room for a sports fan

If you love watching sports, why not make a dedicated room for watching local, college and pro sports. Keep up with your team while keeping an eye on other games. This would also be great if you are into Fantasy Sports. Set-up the room for great sound and comfortable seating. Usually there is a room in your house that does not get much use. Maybe a living room, a den or a bedroom would work for a media sports room. The CAD (computer aided design) photos below show a bedroom that I designed into a media room.

Luxury Resort Style Master Bathroom for Your Home

Turn your master bathroom into a luxury resort style spa

Instead of going to a resort / spa, why not give your home the amenities of a luxury resort. In a previous blog I talk about "How to add a Resort Style Spa to Your Home". In this blog I will talk about how to change your master bathroom into a luxury resort style spa.

In the CAD (computer aided design) photo above you can see a design that was created to give the feel of a luxury resort. This design has Rhythm and Harmony which are two of the basic principles of interior design. The repeating arches gives you rhythm in the room by creating visual interest. Harmony is created by using tone on tone color of the wall and floor. Harmony will make you feel relaxed.

How to Change My Old World Interior Design to Neo-Traditional

Change your heavy and elaborate interior design to a Clean Traditional / Neo-Traditional look

Clean Traditional or Neo Traditional is very popular today, but what does it look like? It is the use of simpler styled traditional furniture. Gone are the days of heavy carved moldings and overly massive items. Sofas and chairs can have softer lines, but are much simpler (cleaner).

The Clean Traditional look is also lighter in color. This is for the person wanting to lighten up and update their home, but do not like contemporary. This is also a look that is not going to go out of style if you stay away from fad colors.

The above CAD (computer aided design) photo is of a design I put together for a client. A CAD presentation gives the client a good idea of what the room will look like when finished. The pieces that are used could be light wood, dark wood or painted. What is important is that they have traditional elements, but have  cleaner lines to them. They should not have heavy carvings or moldings. Everything in this design look should have a more modern look to it. It is a good transition for someone who is tired of elaborate traditional, but find contemporary too plain.

The finishing touches to this look are also simpler. This look works best with fewer, but larger accessories and artwork. It gets away from a lot of small accessories, which give you a cluttered look. Neo-Traditional has a more peaceful feel.

How to add a Resort Style Spa to Your Home

Unwind in a Resort Style Spa in the privacy of your home

Make a comfortable stress-free space to relax and unwind in your home. Turn an area in your home into a sanctuary with all the comforts of a resort style spa. Maybe remodel your bathroom and take some space from an adjoining guest room that you don't use or maybe a walk out basement like in the CAD design below. You could just add some creature comforts to your master suite, like a sauna or convert your shower into a steam shower.

The CAD design above and below shows a complete home spa, with a large steam shower, air tub, sauna, fireplace, yoga area and seating. This creates an Immersive Experience by pulling you into an augmented reality that is engaging and satisfying.

How to make your home luxurious and comfortable.

Comfortable luxury living is not easy to achieve. You can"t just go to the furniture store and buy a bunch of poorly made brown over- stuffed  leather recliners. Comfortable luxury living is more than perceived comfort. It is a way of life, a compete environment created to make you completely relaxed, pampered and with a feeling of quality. How do I Update My Traditional  Home Interior Design

How to update your home from dark and dated to light and modern.

I am getting a lot of requests from people about how they can update their home furnishings and interior design in their home. There are a lot of homes that have dark gold/brown paint through their home. Their furniture is also dark and elaborate. Old World was the fad 15 years ago and now some people are tired of it. They tell me that they want to lighten up their homes and have a cleaner look.

Below are some CAD (computer aided design) photos of the same room. The before photo is what I see in a lot of homes. The after photo shows what can be done.

How CAD can Help Home Owners to Visualize Their Interior Design Project

CAD (computer aided design) is a great way to to help clients visualize their space.

CAD is 3D Rendering that produces photo realistic images of a client's room. We use computer aided design because it help our clients visualize their rooms. How Mirrors can be used to Make Your Rooms seem Larger

Mirrors can visually expand your room and add excitement.

The CAD photos below show rooms I have designed with mirrors to make the rooms seem larger.

There are two important things to remember when using floor to ceiling mirrors:
In order to get the full effect, the mirror should be from floor to ceiling. If you just put a mirror on the wall you will still see the wall that it is hanging on. You only want to see the reflection.

In a rectangular room, always put the mirror on the long wall. It will visually double the space, so if you have a narrow room and you put it on the end wall , your room will look like a hallway.
