Sherwin Williams,the paint company, and the Dallas Market Center outdid themselves again. They put on a special presentation all about the color Purple for 400 Dallas interior designers and designers from across the country. This was not just about purple, but eggplant, plum, lilac and lavender.
The Dallas Market Center is the leading wholesale marketplace in all of North America. It has furniture, home decor, fashion and lighting showrooms.
Dine and Design “Purple Reign” with presenter Ashlynn Bourque was held April 4. She gave a wonderful presentation on how purple relates to nature,history, art, science, symbolism and application.
Purple can be seen in many beautiful flowers like lilacs, roses, coneflowers, dwarf iris, salvia, delphinians, pansies and lavender. Purple can also be seen in many of the delicious foods we eat, such as blueberries, dried plums, purple cabbage, eggplant, purple grapes and wine.
In history, the color purple has been associated with royalty, power and wealth for centuries. Purple’s elite status stems from the rarity and cost of the dye originally used to produce it.
Purple is seen everywhere in nature. In the purple sky, in flowers, in blooming trees, in fish, in birds and in butterflies, purple adds to the beauty of the landscape.
The Purple Heart is a United States military decoration awarded in the name of the President to those wounded or killed while serving with the U.S. military. Purple is used in art, science, symbolism and application.
The music of Prince was enjoyed. There were special vignettes set up using purple with other colors that could be viewed in the atrium.These design vignettes were sponsored by the Dallas Market Center and included Ambella Home Collection, Global Views and Studio A Home Collection, Revelation, a new introduction by Uttermost, Surya, Nakasa by IMAX, Designers Patio, Contempo Designs, Design Directions, Cyan Design, and Bella Rustica.
